A 16 year old baby!

This week started with a beautiful run (walk for me) with friends at Red Rock State Park. This is everyone's favorite run that Coach G does. The kids run 6 miles of the loop and out of the park. Coach G keeps telling Ivy that she is a totally different runner this year than last year.

These are my friends who I walk with during practice. Carrie is Esther's mom and Amy is Teagan's mom. It was a beautiful morning!

Our week ended on Friday with Ivy's 16th birthday and she even got her license! The lady who tested her was nice until after the drive test. She took us both aside and asked Ivy what she did wrong, why she did it and what she should have done. She acted very concerned about Ivy not checking her right-side blind spot when she got in the turn lane to turn right. Then she asked if we had any questions, so I asked if she passed. Yes. With a 95/100. It was harrowing.

We sang to Ivy and did presents before her friends came over to swim and watch a movie projected on the wall outside. Since she didn't want to break out the cheesecake yet, we let her blow out her candles in an old banana.

 We are struggling through the heat this year. The days are quite cozy in these parts. We get up early to walk and run before the sun comes up and then Bill and I wait for the sun to set before we go on an evening walk. Those evening walks are still pretty brutal. We plan on sweating and Bill often jumps in the pool right after. 

Will's job keeps paying and makes him tired every day, which helps him to sleep better than he has in years. He comes home so tired, but happy and seems to be enjoying the work. Ivy is anxious for Will to buy a car already so that she has something to drive now that she has a license!
